  History of museum
The beginnings of the museum in Ziębice reach 1930, when the authorities of the town decided to organize Heimatmuseum to collect relics of the town and the district. Already in 1931 they created tirst museum exposition in two halls of the town hall. Collections of the Ziębice Heimatmuseum expanded quickly, and in the years 1934-1937 they were enriched with a huge collection given to the town by the widow after Silesian artist Joseph Langer. After liquidation of the administrative district, the Ziębice museum was transferred to former seat of district office near today's Przemysłowa street. In this way the museum got an independent seat, which thanks to reconstruction and adaptation was perfectly suitable for presentation of the museum collections.

Museum in Ziębice survived the World War II without losses and in 1946 the German curator passed it on to Polish authorities. The museum started its activities already in the 50s of 20th century, under management of the first Polish director  Mr. W. Brajter. In the 50s the collections of the museum were enriched with relics from liquidated museum in Niemcza. The authorities of that time reluctantly saw "post-German" collections in the "Piastowskie" Ziębice, therefore an idea appeared to create, based on the museum in Ziębice, an institution specializing in collection of household appliances and equipment. Against the will of the next director Mr. Jerzy Rozwadowski in first half of the 70s of the 20th century the museum was deprived of its seat. The building was occupied by the Town Offices and the museum was transferred to several rooms in the Town Hall where it remains until today. In new location narrowness of space  permitted to organize only a small exhibition, mainly household appliances.

Only in 90s the next director of the museum Mrs. Renata Kolega adapted the rooms in the Town Hall after former PZPR (Polish United Workers' Party) Committee, she organized new expositions and brought exhibits from former store-houses in the building of the Town offices. At present, the museum in Ziębice, under management of Mr. Jarosław Żurawski, being the only one specializing in household appliances and equipment, tries to join the functions of a specialistic and regional museum, presenting its rich collections in 7 exhibition rooms. Unfortunately, the museum still is only one of the users of the Town Hall and has too small exhibition area, which causes that a part of exhibits is kept in a warehouse (e.g. manuscripts, old prints, numismatic, photographic, sfragistic collections) or exhibited in other museums, e.g. in Jelenia Góra or Z±bkowice ¦l. The museum does not have a temporary exhibition hall, which significantly limits the possibilities to organize temporary exhibitions, even of own collections.

Since 70s of the 20th century the museum is located in the Town Hall - an eclectic building built in 1887-1890 on the site of previous Renaissance town hall. The only remains of the old town hall is a 16th century's tower, from which a beautiful  view of the town, hilly neighbourhood and eastern part of the Sudety mountains can be seen.
